I was excited to receive and read "Casalvento: House of the Wind." The book itself is beautiful, including an Italian map inside the front cover to accompany the story. However, as I began reading, I instantly disliked the main character Erika. She seemed unrealistic at times, but that didn't deter me from reading. What made me ultimately stop reading this book was Erika's attitude to the staff of the winery she had inherited (even after she had been welcomed, eaten dinner with them, etc) The quote from her friend about how she should interact with the staff completely ended my interest for reading this book. "Honey, being nice in business doesn't get you anywhere. Being a bitch gets you everywhere!" After that, I was done.

I am guessing that the rest of the book is (hopefully) Erika seeing the error of her ways and changing her attitude, but I will not be reading it. Hope others enjoy this one because it is not for me.
