Predictable Read for Me

First and foremost, I want to say that I was immediately interested in reading this story just from the setting. The setting of Tuscany sounded like such a beautiful landscape to read about, and I believe the author did a good job with delivering such descriptions. The imagery was beautiful, from the location to the food and wine. So I enjoyed that.

Unfortunately, I felt as though the setting overshadowed the plot of the book (i.e. it was more vibes than plot). The plot felt very familiar, and not in a good way for me personally. What I mean is--there was nothing in particular about the storyline that felt different from other books I've read--and other movies I've watched--in this genre.

The characters also left me wanting more. From the start, Erika was very unlikable (and not in the way I typically enjoy); that made it hard for me to engage with this story. I also felt like her connection with the love interest could have had a lot more chemistry between them; there conversations didn't always feel authentic for me.

I can see other readers enjoying this story, especially as summer time nears. So if it sounds interesting to you, I say give it a chance.
