I love novels set in Italy. CASALVENTO Italian backdrop is a big plus in this novel. The premise of a woman suddenly receiving a Tuscany house and vineyard had my interest.

The first chapter shows the safe relationship Erika has with her fiance. I almost thought it was too boring. I got that the author wanted to get Erika to Italy and the catch to really get the estate. I wanted to read more, but then the story felt too stifled and long in places.

The novel felt rushed with no real character development. I admit, I was kind of disappointed. Though the premise is promising, the novel felt as if it was a first draft and needed more editing. I didn't connect with the protagonist and the first three chapters felt more like a step-by-step schedule of going to Italy. But that's just my opinion.

The Italian background is a plus in this otherwise slow-moving story.
