3.25/5 stars! There was a lot of promise in this story. You have a romance set in Italy. You have a diverse cast of characters. You even have a third-act conflict closing with a 'love story for the ages.' There was so much in this story was setting the stage for something special. I just didn't feel the payoff was there. Erika is ok, but didn't hit my standards for a strong heroine. Additionally, I liked her fiance, so it was weird to try and root for her and Paolo. This kind of reminded me of the movie Leap Year, except I enjoyed Leap Year a bit more. I will say that the author did a great job describing the setting and they seemed to have a genuine understanding of the location and Italian culture. I felt like I could smell the fruit in the air and feel the soil beneath my feet, so that portion of the description was lovely to get to experience as a reader.
