I kind of hate books that kind of make me hate the characters right off the bat. In this case it isn't because Erika is a horrible person, it's more because this thirty year old woman has it all... and then gets even more. It may appeal to some people, but it's a bit of a turnoff for me when the choice is between a fiance and a beautiful apartment in NYC, or a handsome caretaker and a successful winery in Italy. Gee, what a hard life.
