Carolina Moonset is the perfect example of a genre-bending novel, it's part mystery and part romance, and if I'm honest I enjoyed the romance part the most. The banter between Joey and Leela was both entertaining and intimate.

I'm not sure that's what the author intended so I'll focus on the mystery. Joey has returned to the family home in Beaufort, South Carolina to help care for his father, who was recently diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia (no short-term memory). What Joey didn't expect was to be at the center of a murder investigation or the distinct memories his dad has of the past (secrets, lies and a murder or two). What lengths will Joey go to protect his father? Does his father even need protecting? I was not surprised at the reveal of the murderer and quite enjoyed how it played out.

I received an advanced copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own.
