As someone who is dealing with a parent in the early stages of dementia, I can connect with protagonist's grief, though his parent is still alive. It's a slow march with small victories and small losses that add up but cause confusion. Add to that the intrigue of finding out something or some things from your parent's past you never knew and have to unravel. I think the family relationships and element of dementia will add to the suspense here.
