"That's when I learned I could not trust family."

Joey Green travels from Chicago to his parents' retirement home in Beaufort, South Carolina. He's made this trip many times, as a child, as a young adult, but this trip is different, in that he's "home" to help his mother care for his father, who has been diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. This device sets up a good plot - for Joey's dad, Marshall, can remember the old days like they were yesterday, but his short term memory is shot. This leads Joey to travel back in time with his dad, and it's possible he may learn some things he rather wished he didn't. I liked the characters in these first 2 chapters, and Goldman does a fabulous job at creating a sense of place - "The air smelled of the sea, heavy with salt, and humidity. I took a deep breath and inhaled forty years of pleasant memories from this place I loved."

The cover is great, I love the colors and the air of mystery. I want to read more to discover what Joey's dad is going to remember!
