The synopsis paints a great picture of setting for this story!
Late September 1957. Henry and Effie, very young newlyweds from Georgia, arrive in Cape May, New Jersey, for their honeymoon where they meet a glamorous set of people who sweep them up into their drama. The empty beach town becomes their playground, and Henry and Effie slip from innocence into betrayal, with irrevocable consequences. Erotic and moving, this is a novel about marriage, love, and sexuality, and the lifelong repercussions that meeting a group of debauched cosmopolitans has on a new marriage.
Unfortunately, the synopsis ended up making the book sound more interesting than it really was. It was a solid story. A young couple getting drawn into a dark world... Would they find their way back to their innocent ways or be changed forever? It just focused to much on Henry for my tastes. I would of liked to see more Effie and maybe have things move along a little faster.
