I was really excited to read this book as my family has owned a house in Cape May since the 1960s. I was born a while after that, but have been going up there for 30+ years, so it is great to read a book placed around the time my dad and his family were first exploring the area. This book got the vibes of the the off-season so right. It's almost eerie at first, but then becomes almost a magical place. It almost feels like it is just you and you family there as compared to the bustle of the summer months. The first two chapters of this was a great read, a newly wed couple comes to Cape May for their honey moon. Then drama starts to kick in when they run into some old acquaintances of Effie's and the book really picks up from there!
