Deeply engrossing novel about love, marriage and debauchery in 1950s
It's 1957, and newly married couple Henry and Effie arrive in Cape May for their honeymoon. They quickly fall into a relationship with a glamorous set of socialites and all types of debauchery follows.
First of all, the novel does an excellent job of creating a dreamy, nostalgic atmosphere that draws you into 1950s New England and into the lives of an unmarried couple who barely know or understand each other. It's deeply engrossing and I found myself blowing through this book in less than a day!
However, I would caution readers that there is ALOT of sex and even, raunchiness in this novel. So if you are at all sensitive to that, you should definitely pass. I felt like I needed to take a shower after reading this one and the ending felt unnecessary so only 3 stars for me.
