This opinion is from a real Southerner! The majority of books make us look ignorant, selfish, too stupid for the sophisticated New Englanders! Especially New Yorkers! We have a very innocent Southern couple on their honeymoon, going to Cape May in the offseason. My first question is Why? Effie did not seem to have good memories of her childhood memories being there! Henry is ripe for being hunted by Claire, like a shark for seals! He is twenty, and a virgin? Next, it is obvious Effie is being portrayed as the spoiled princess, Daddy's little girl, who always gets her way! Typical portrayal of Southern girls! Henry; and Effie might as well have seal written on their foreheads; they are about to be chewed up and spit out by the sharks in the story! It is obvious Claire, has grown cynical; her husband has lost interest in her; if he had any at all! Too depressing for me. It is like watching a train wreck ; when you should have a taken a different route!
