This is the first time I have read a book by this author. I have seen his name before but never really gave any of his stories a chance. Having won a copy in this raffle, I was happy to give him and his writing style a chance. This is not typically my kind of book, even if things like this did actually happen. Slave (human) brutality is just not to my liking. It is hard to read and the slave owner is someone that is hard to like even if there are points that are supposed to redeem him. He is definitely a womanizer and the relationship is just not realistic to me. After a little research I discovered that this is a prequel to one of his series of books. Having read this one, I do not believe I will continue on this journey with his characters. Not for me, but someone else may enjoy it!
