I was able to read an excerpt as a first impression. I'm unsure what to think. I like the cover and it is eye-catching. The concept and characters are interesting enough that I'm curious to read more; however, it is a little uncomfortable that this is written by an aging white guy whose lead character is praising and promoting the continuation of slavery. If I got this book, I'd only be reading it to see if his opinion about slavery changes.
