Wow. I was not the least bit interested based on the blurb, but the First Impression sucked me in right away. Mungo is an interesting villain - monstrous, but not stupid. He debates in favor of slavery (horrible!), then turns and calls the abolitionists on their hypocrisies. One of the other characters sums it up perfectly, "Arguing with you is like arguing with the Devil himself." I want to read all about him.
Then there's betrayal, and action, this book has it all already, lol
Also I was surprised at how such a prolific writer has been so far off my radar that I've never heard of him! Have I been living under a rock? Maybe!
