I do not like period pieces, especially this time period. I have no interest in history or the past.

This book though...

I could read this.

Mungo is introduced as a wealthy Virginian, attending a debate over the issue of abolishing slavery. He received a letter that causes him to drop all the witty banter in which he so seamlessly engaged. He must go home at once. His father is dead and his family's estate is bankruptcy. I admit it - I'm very intrigued.

I love when a write can entice me into a topic in which I have little interest. It takes approachable writing, clean sentences, and a willingness to not show off flowery language and big words and this author nails it for me.
