Persuasion is my favorite Jane Austen novel and that alone should have made me want to pick up an adaptation, but after only a few pages I wanted to fling this thing from me. Since it was a digital file and that was therefore impossible, I am reduced to relaying my impression thusly.

Anne is annoying and snobbish. I did not get a good first impression of her and have no interest in spending any more time in her company.

The writing info dumps about the characters without giving them the chance to stretch their legs and allow the reader to get to know them, making them unbearable.

Generally books on the cover are appealing, whether in a library or bookshop setting, but this one, while attractive, would've been like a gold encrusted lump of dung.
