If I were a writer, I would want to have written this book!
But since I am not a writer, I will just have to sit back and enjoy the ride. "By the Book" is a women's fiction novel. The blurb states that it is a retelling of Jane Austen's novel "Persuasion", which I am glad I have yet to read. Sometimes, it is good to have a fresh perspective on a book and not compare to the original. Overall, I think the cover is beautiful. It fits perfectly with how I feel the book will play out.
Anne is an English professor fighting to get tenure. As a graduate student, I have heard the horror stories of how difficult it is to achieve, and how tenure is necessary to have some form of job security. To make it worst, Anne's sexy and accomplished ex-fiancé becomes her boss! Has there ever been a fictional or real-life couple that you wish would get back together? I am already rooting for this couple, and hoping Anne has her happy ending - maybe because I feel I relate to her too much! This book seems like it will be a fun and light read. Exactly what I feel I need in this moment!
