I’m not familiar with Julia Sonneborn’s writing but I feel like she’s a great writer from these first few pages. I get a sense of playfulness from this novel and from the interactions with Anne and Larry. I like the back and forth from present to past. It creates a sense of mystery, of what happened in the past between Anne and Adam. I want to know what happened to cause them to break an engagement. I’m intrigued.
