I love love love the beginning of this book! I’ve always been a Persuasion fan, but not every modern adaptation draws me in. By The Book immediately makes the reader feel what Anne is feeling. Her wistfulness, along with direct quotes from Jane Austen, makes me want to settle in with a cup of tea and read the rest of the story as soon as possible.
