I really wanted to like this book. The cover was eye catching, the plot was interesting (a diamond heist, a train robbery, murder and a cover up) and there were definitely some unexpected twists (I was seriously taken by surprise with the main characters father). But overall the book was unexciting and I struggled to finish it.
The characters were not really likeable, even the main character who was unambitious and rather boring. And the fact that he did not uphold the law and could be considered a crooked cop did not help his character at all. His only redeeming quality was his love for his wife and even given the opportunity he did not stray. I would likely not pick up another book from this series.
