How far will one detective go to learn about his past, and will it destroy his world?

Buried, by Lynda La Plante, is the first book in a new detective series. Set in modern London, BURIED introduces DC Jack Warr, a talented detective lacking any ambition to further his career. A call about a burnt body, found with millions of stolen bank notes, drags Jack's team not only into a homicide investigation, but a decades old train robbery.

With newfound gusto, Jack dives into the investigation, and finds himself deep in the seedy world of criminals. As his search for the robbers progresses, Jack uncovers more questions than answers, and begins to question the lines of justice himself.

I deeply enjoyed BURIED. Admittedly, the beginning was a bit slow going, but the pace quickened and I was hooked! I could not put it down. I think this book perfectly sets the scene for a new series, and DC Warr is a promising main character. La Plante has a winning series on her hands and I cannot wait for more!
