This was a fast paced read that smoothly blended the past and present together. I was caught in the thrill of the chase and could not guess what the twists would all be. Every time you think you get close to knowing what would happen, something new would show up to throw you.
What I enjoyed most was that it was not only a murder mystery, but also an awakening for our titular hero. He finds his place as an officer and also as a person. Each and every character was a thrilling person to read about.
