She paints a vivid picture right off the bat, a dead body within the first few pages. I didn't get much of a sense of who the characters were but what I did get, I liked. I didn't love the focus on Jack and Maggie's physique right off the bat; it's a bit of a pet peeve of mine but it wasn't a big deal.
