The cover of the book is okay. It doesn't stand out but it isn't offputting. It was the writing that made this a forced read. I never want to pick up a book and feel like I'm forcing myself to get through in Hopes for a good part. Imagery is important, but the author spends more time on details than building a story with no foundation to keep the reader rooted in. I had Hope's since I saw Karin Slaughter wrote a comment on it but I was disappointed at best. The prologue isnt befitting and yet somehow seemingly more interesting than getting into the story. It was very drug out and things seemed forced together. It is dramatic without reeling the reader in and has ill developed character relation. It is predictable in the way that you're already able to start piecing the story together like wrote it yourself because it is the same thing you've seen 100 times.
