Glad to hear this is a first in series, it's a compelling start with good atmosphere and an immersive level of description that generated some interest in the setting. I do wonder what had happened to the characters introduced, and might be willing to try it further in the future. It does have the style of a crime thriller (great if you love crime thrillers) but the characters seem to have depth in an involving way. I do feel though that we're flung into their situations suddenly, without fully getting to know each character first.
