The prologue and first chapter of Buried is quite intriguing. The reader gets a glimpse into a mysterious dinner party from the past and is left wondering about its results. Then, in the first chapter, the reader is pulled into the current period story line by a house fire and a discovered body.
The introduction to the characters reveals a cast of investigators that seem likable and interesting, if a bit unrealistic in their extreme good looks.
