I must confess to being a little disappointed in Lynda La Plante's recent novels, but 'Buried' undoubtedly marks a welcome return to form for the Queen of British Crime Fiction. This novel is quite simply vintage La Plante. We have the usual twisty mystery, deftly weaved by the maestro herself, but what has always elevated La Plante above her peers are the enduring characters of her novels.
