The beginning of this book vacillates between three main characters, Piper who is mayor of her small Texas town, Colby an undercover Trooper trying to find out what happened to Piper's "almost" fiance, and Sam a man with a Divinity degree who is pretending to be the church's fill-in preacher. What a fun cast of characters! Piper is trying to keep the scandal of her missing "almost" fiance from ruining everything she's trying for. Colby is trying to find the truth. Sam is trying to find himself after a lot of wandering and loss. I can't wait to read the rest of the book!
