From what I can tell so far, this book is about three people who don’t belong. Piper, the mayor of her small town who longs to move to the big city. Her faux fiance has gone missing and he brother hires a Trooper, Colby, to investigate the disappearance. Colby crosses paths with Sam in a rest stop bathroom as they are both changing into their “costumes” as it were. Sam is impersonating his preacher father, who is long dead, and desperately seeking a new start and an idea about what to do with his life.
