There is a lot going on in this excerpt of Breakfast at the Honey Creek Cafe. We have Piper, the Mayor of Honey Creek, who is worried about the publicity around her missing (almost) fiance. Colby, the Texas Ranger, who has been sent by Piper's brother to quietly investigate. Sam, who has accepted an invitation (meant for his deceased father) to fill in at the local church. And of course, the missing (almost) fiance, Boone. There is a little back story on each character, thankfully, or it would be quite confusing trying to figure out where each person fit in and how they became involved in the mystery of the missing fiance. Not much of a history on Piper though.
