From the beginning of this book, you can tell it is going to be tough. Minah is living with her father, who works hard every day to keep them in a place that is not the best, but a roof over their heads. I like their banter at the beginning of the book. You know dad is trying. Minah does do good things as well, such as taking care of the homeless man. Oh, the secrets awaiting to unfold. I think this book will draw students in from the beginning.
