Break This House is a story about Minah, a Michigan girl trying to start a life with her dad in Crown Heights, New York. When she learns about her mother's death after a period of estrangement, it seems there is a lot more to her past than meets the eye.

Overall, the story and characters are interesting, but I was so distracted by the "young" style of writing that is meant to capture the modern linguistic style of an African American girl. To me, it seemed exaggerated and inauthentic, so it served more as a distraction than giving the story nuance. This one may be worth a try due to the vibrancy of the story, if you can look past the writing style.
