When I first went being synopsis, I wasn't sure what to expect from this novel. It doesn't really give much away. After reading the first look, I'm understanding more like this is a book about black adolescence. The main character is a young black woman who is dealing with everyday things like friends, her dad, and money. Beneath it all, there is an underlying current of unease regarding the town she's originally from. This book feels very realistic, but also seems to have some mysterious / horror elements to it. I can't wait to keep reading so that I can find out what happens next!
