Reading the first impression was a chore. Felt very heavy handed with needing to paint the picture of an NYC neighborhood. I don't mind that the main character spoke the way a Black teenager in the city would but that mouth was popping off a little too disrespectful to the father and that part was unrealistic. Plus everything just flowed so clunky.
