Honestly, I am not sure what to make of the first look. I understand that it is 12 people dealing with curveballs thrown their way and the after effects, but there is no help for the reader as why these 12 people. Are they related to one another? Is this the perspective from their therapist or something? It reads as just a group of random people who were dealt some crappy cards with no connection to one another.
