Didn't enjoy the first short story, liked the one about spelunking, and didn't think much about the rest and skimmed when I got bored. I think Macdonald is a decent writer. Spots of humor that agreed with me ("NUN MOBILE"), not much else of note. I've been reading Lucia Berlin, which might be why I'm especially not impressed--short stories, similar themes and tone, but huge disparity in quality of writing and execution.
