I had no clue that this series is now a television show, but after having read this one I'm going to find out where I can watch the show!

I actually jumped into this book without realizing that it's the 6th in a series. Thankfully it reads well enough on its own for those who haven't read the earlier books but I'm sure there are certain scenes or moments I might not have caught because of it. I plan on going back and reading the first five now to see what I missed.

Blunt Force reads well enough for those new to the series because apparently it is an origin story/prequel to the present day detective Jane Tennison. Jane currently works at a police station in Knightsbridge after getting kicked off the flying squad and life is a bit quieter than she is used to. The plot picks up with the murder of theatrical agent Charlie Foxley though and what follows is an interesting and well written detective novel. The story starts off a bit slow as you're getting to know the characters but picks up the pace through the end.
