I love a good mystery. I especially love a good mystery that keeps me guessing right up to the end. Lynda La Plante has accomplished that with Blunt Force. Set in England this book is part the story of Jane Tennison who is a law enforcement officer. Unfortunately, I have not read the other five books, but it did not change my enjoyment of the book.
Because I had not read the previous books, I was a bit in the dark about what errors Jane made in a previous case that resulted in her re-assignment to Belgravia station which is not a place with much action.
The main case that Jane is working on is the brutal death of a talent agent. Of course, all of the obvious suspects are ruled out very quickly so Jane and her fellow officers must find a possible motive. Although it is Jane that figures out the possible motive, she gets less credit for it than you would expect.
My recommendation is to read the previous 5 Tennison thrillers as well as this one.
