Blunt Force suffers from what I like to call "Hollywood writing" in that initial character interactions seem unnatural and dialogue mainly serves to provide exposition. Perhaps because this is the latest installment of a long series of novels (and television series), Blunt Force does not spend much time on introducing the main characters to the readers and instead leaps straight into the central mystery. The book feels like it was written for people who are already fans of the franchise.
