I read a lot of mysteries, thrillers, and detective novels. This first impression just didn't suck me in. It wasn't terrible or anything, but I didn't feel like it really gripped me right away. Perhaps because it seems to be a series you need to read the previous books first, and I haven't but it seems to me like the characters aren't well fleshed out. Sometimes I find that to be the case on novels that prioritize action over character development, but I didn't feel like this first look had a ton of either to be honest.
