It may possibly be the fact that the officers are British, but I found it odd a detective hadn’t had weapons training. The story was a slow build, and I felt the mention of women not being accepted in the force a little redundant. The novel may be very good once the ball gets rolling, but I just felt that it didn’t fire on all cylinders.
