Wow. This was an incredible beginning! The writing style is sharp and matches each character's personality. I almost felt like I was reading the equivalent to a 1940s movie with the sharp dialogue and lavish people who say one thing but possibly mean something entirely different.
Despite only meeting each character for a short period of time, you get to know exactly what they are about in the first couple of paragraphs.
I can't wait to read what Maud's motives were and if she actually did shoot the man she was aiming for.
The cover is also incredibly eye-catching. It's definitely one I would pick up off the shelf and with this look at the first chapters, I would love to know what happens next. I could definitely see reading this in one go!
