Love the Witchlands!
I am a huge fan of Susan Dennard's and have been excited about her Witchlands characters ever since the first book, Truthwitch.
For anyone unfamiliar with the series, it is truly an epic fantasy with an amazing world! In a continent on the edge of war and a peace treaty about to expire, tensions between countries are high. War is coming and a magical contagion is sweeping the land. And Safi and her best friend Iseult are in the middle of that. Safi is a Truthwitch able to discern lies from truth. This is a rare ability and one that just about everyone wants, which means she needs to stay hidden and keep her powers under wraps. Without giving anything away Iseult doesn't realize how valueable her true powers are--and she's going to learn that the hard way. These two best friends forge alliances (and find romance!) all while fighting for their freedom.
This excerpt of the Bloodwitch, does not disappoint! Susan is such a talented writer with amazing worldbuilding and a plot that just doesn't stop. The writing is immersive, the world building is exceptionally visual and despite everything happening, I would absolutely jump at the chance to live in this world! Aeduan, Iseult, Safi and Merik all have distinct voices. I can't wait to see what's in store for all my favorite characters.
