I LOVE MY BABIES SO MUCH
Bloodwitch takes off right after the events in Windwitch. Almost all our favorite characters are scattered between the three Empires. Safi is helping Vaness root out the rot in her court. Vivia is still trying to hold NuBrevna together. Iseult & Aeduan are trying to return Owl to her tribe. Merik, Cam and Ryber are heading into the Sightwitch caves in order to find something to stop the Raider King. And the threats from the Raider King, the Puppeteer & the Fury are only mounting.
There was a lot of running around happening in this book between all of the characters. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed this installment. I feel like there's so much we've learned about the motivations of our villains. While I still absolutely hate Esme, I understand her better. The Raider King finally makes an appearance in this too. He is still very much of a mystery to me, he also doesn't really feel evil. I think he is trying to do something that he thinks will help the Empires, but everyone else disagrees. However, I don't like how he's going about it.
The last 25% of this book had so many various reunions, and I had constant happy tears streaming. Not that all of them stuck, but it was still so heartwarming to see. I'm hoping there will be so more actual Cahr Awen action in the next book. The Carrowen monks were very interesting as well. Before, they had definitely been a place for refuge, but after their new abbot takes control, they become twisted into something their not. I am really anticipating what will happen since Lizl will be taking control.
The best part of this book was Vivia & Vaness meeting. I loved everything about their meeting and getting to see it through Safi's eyes was even better. Vivia has become one of my ultimate favorite characters of this saga. She's had to constantly fight for her birthright, whether it's with her brother, her father now her vizers. I am so proud of her, and it's amazing that she hasn't just fucking drowned the idiots on her council. I would, but Vivia is obviously better than me lmao. I want everything for her and I think with Vaness's help she will get closer to it.
