There's no longer any excuses not to read this series
Whenever I am at a bookstore and see these covers, they never fail to catch my eye. The cover models look so badass and strong and the colors always pop. That being said, I have still failed to pick up one of these books. I have heard nothing but amazing upon amazing things and I was so excited to see not only this galley but this ENTIRE SERIES up for grabs. And now that it has been optioned for television as well, there's absolutely no excuse anymore for me not to read this series.
Ok. Let's talk writing style. Dear Susan Dennard, holy WOW this is lyrically beautiful. One of my favorite things about the fantasy and magical realism genres is how its writers usually have a very distinct voice in their storytelling. Having no background into this series, I can't pretend to understand like I knew what was going on in the excerpt, but I kept scrolling because I was so intrigued.
