The story opens with a scene of joy and hope, but the author gives the impression that it is only fleeting. Then the truth of what this book is about comes forth quickly, and all of that hope and joy are extinguished.

Next scene were are at a massacre with a man who was attacked. This man is not normal and we soon find out has powers.

The author makes the switch fast and simultaneously tells some backstory while foreshadowing. This is not an easy way to write and yet the author somehow pulls it off wonderfully.

I cannot wait to continue this magical and dangerous adventure!
