"She stole his breath now, and he had no breath to spare..."

After leaving Ryber and Kullen at the end of Sightwitch, the opening pages of Bloodwitch feel like a homecoming. From its heart-wrenching prologue to the voice of its fascinating new narrator, Bloodwitch promises to be another enthralling installment in the Witchlands series. Dennard is a masterful storyteller; each perspective is gripping in its own right, and her characters feel richly realized. The surprise Iseult feels whenever she finds herself laughing; Merik's indomitable self-sacrificing streak; how Safi's tendency to get in her own way continues to be as much a strength as a weakness; the pain that inspires Aeduan's strength; Vivia's aching want--each character comes so vividly to life within these few pages. The Witchland books are high fantasy at its best; I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling thrilled to read the rest!
