I liked “Blood and Moonlight” but it didn’t realize the hopes I had for the book. It is a story of a hunt for a serial killer in a town where a cathedral is being built. It is YA and has a romance element. I liked the sense of place the story had and the magical elements. The magic system was not well developed but that didn’t much bother me. For me the weak elements were the romance and development of the characters. It was frustrating to have all the male characters in love with Catrin especially as she repeatedly made poor decisions. I liked the portrayal of mental il mess and how it wrapped into the book and the author’s note at the end was interesting. In general all the relationships in the book were not well developed which made the book feel superficial overall. I enjoyed my time reading it except for my frustration with Catrin for not guessing who the killer was.
