Catrin or 'Cat' makes a living checking buildings for flaws in construction. One night she witnesses a murder. Simon, an "expert in madness" is assigned the case. With a strange ability tied to the moon, Catrin finds herself helping Simon while somehow intertwined with the murder due to her ability.
I've said it once and I will say it again, the cover for this is absolutely gorgeous! How could one not judge a book by the cover with a cover like that? Beautiful and quite fitting.
This book was a fun, interesting read. I found myself able to read through it fairly easily, never losing interest. Cat is an intriguing character/narrator and I enjoyed her voice. Right from the start of the book I wanted to know more about her and her past right along side her.
I also quite enjoy a murder mystery, especially when it is set in the past, which in this case is medieval.
I liked Simon a lot too, I loved how he could kind of see through the killer's mind. Those types of characters are always a favorite of mine.
It was also interesting seeing magic/supernatural sort of abilities intertwined with murder mystery and honestly I think it made for a great touch!
Overall, if you love a good murder mystery set in a different time with a touch of romance and more, I recommend this book (as long as you don't mind some gory murder details!)
